According to the Global Passport Power ranking, these are the top 5 African countries with the highest-ranking passports:

  1. Seychelles – is the highest-ranking African passport. It has a passport power rank of 23 and a visa free score of 136. If you have a Seychelles passport you can visit 103 countries in the world visa-free, get visa-on-arrival for 33 countries, and require visas for 62 countries around the world.
  1. Mauritius – is the second highest-ranking African passport. It has a passport power rank of 27 and a visa free score of 132. With a Mauritius passport you can visit 99 countries in the world visa-free, get visa-on-arrival for 33 countries, and require visas for 66 countries around the world.
  1. South Africa – is the third highest-ranking African passport. It has a passport power rank of 44 and a visa free score of 98. With a South African passport, you can visit 63 countries in the world visa-free, get visa-on-arrival for 35 countries, and require visas for 100 countries around the world.

The index, created by Arton Capital, ranks passports based on the number of countries citizens can visit without requiring a visa or needing one upon entry. Topping the ranks is the United Arab Emirates, with a score of 167. These passport holders have access to 113 visa-free countries, 54 for visa on arrival.

According to the Passport Index, UAE citizens have visa-free access to more than 84% of the world.

Runners-up Singapore and Germany share the number two spot, with both countries scoring 166. Citizens have access to 127 and 126 visa-free countries respectively.
