‘Write with Style Workshop with Oris’ announces second edition

    Following the first edition of the Write With Style Workshop, the award-winning writer, critic, and journalist Oris Aigbokhaevbolo is hosting an expansive second edition of the writing workshop on 24 and 25 November 2018.

    Topics to be covered at the workshop include:

    – How to write a good sentence

    – Killing clichés in your writing

    – Tips and tricks for good copy

    – What is style?

    – What is euphony?

    – A special focus on the semicolon

    – The basic tools needed to write film reviews, interviews, reportage, fiction, and creative nonfiction

    – Who pays writers?

    Fee: 12, 000 naira

    About the facilitator

    Oris Aigbokhaevbolo is a writer, journalist, and one of the most acclaimed popular culture critics of his generation. In 2014, he became the only writer to receive invitations to the international film criticism academies in Germany, South Africa, and the Netherlands in a single year. In 2015, his music writing won the All Africa Music Award (AFRIMA) for Music Journalism.

    Oris was the winter 2016 writer-in-residence at the island of Sylt, Germany and he won the Felabration Media Award in 2018. His essays, reviews, reportage, and humour pieces have appeared in the Guardian UK, the Africa Report, This is Africa, the literary journal Chimurenga, as well as in numerous Nigerian publications. His collection of essays on Nigerian film, music, and books is forthcoming in 2019.
